Don’t know where to start with your letter of reference?
I wrote one today for Lisa, who will be finishing her internship at LA Preuss Consulting tomorrow. And since we worked together for 4 weeks straight, it was my pleasure to put into words how dedicated and hardworking she’s been!
OK – here’s what you do: Open your letter of reference with one paragraph that includes the name, date of birth and place of birth of the person you are writing it for, as well as the work (or in this case internship) duration.
Next, you’ll want to write one paragraph that lists the person’s daily tasks and responsibilities, feel free to put this into bullet points if you like.
In your remaining paragraphs, describe the person, their work ethic and characteristics that stood out to you while working with them. But be careful: The exact wording you use here will be precisely analyzed by HR, acting as a report card for which each word structure basically gives the person a grade.
Hope this helps! If you have any questions, don’t forget to leave a comment below. Thanks!
