Have you ever asked yourself what job(s) your product does for your customer? If not, it’s about time! We buy things in order to make our lives easier which, to put in another way, means that we buy products or hire services in order to get certain jobs done. Your washing machine cleans your clothes and, in doing so, saves you time and effort – just image you would have to do it with a washboard again! In the same way, the products or services you offer should help your customer get something done easier, to save time or effort, etc. Thinking about your offer this way will give you a whole new perspective and lead to interesting insights or possibly even product adaptation or extension. Yesterday, I had the best chocolate cake ever! We went to an amazing little café (Kafi Franz), sat down with two cups of coffee and when I saw the cake, I simply couldn’t resist. Flourless chocolate cake <3. It was like chocolate mousse in the form of a cake. Let me tell you, I could talk about this chocolate cake for hours. But no worries, many other exciting things happened this week besides the super delicious chocolate cake!
First of all, it’s great to see our projects progress. Friday is normally our business call day when we take clients through the current status quo of their project and define next steps. This is super helpful to keep everybody updated and able to quickly respond to changes.
Next, we started with a website design project this week. It’s amazing how quickly you can create something from scratch with the help of a template! And it’s exciting to find out what you can change and how you can shuffle things around until you have found the perfect solution. Here, you can be truly creative and present different solutions to your clients and let them pick which one they like best.
Finally, I look forward to next week! As it’s the start of a new month, we’ll need to prepare bills and reports in order to deliver insights and help further optimize our customers’ online presence.
Nowadays everybody talks about strategy. There are strategies for everything – “Strategies for Every Type of Email Pain”, “Feeding Strategies” for cats and dogs and not to forget our infamous “Chocolate Strategy”.
As you can see, strategy seems to be a buzzword these days. But before we continue with our strategy talk, I want to make sure that we’re all on the same page and know what strategy even means. Watkins has published an interesting article in which he nicely defines “business strategy” as “a set of guiding principles that, when communicated and adopted in the organization, generates a desired pattern of decision making”. In other words, a strategy is something like a compass or navigation system that shows you which direction to take to, ultimately, accomplish your desired objective. Plus, besides having a “compass”, there is more you need for establishing a successful business.
It’s like there’s one thing in life that makes everything better. Chocolate! Haha-the words of a true chocoholic, huh? Sill, I’m convinced that everybody has their own favorite treat that makes them a little bit happier. And is there anything better than starting a day, precisely a Monday, with a treat you love? This week has left me fascinated about all the possibilities digital marketing offers.
At Uni, we always talked about the importance of target group definition, segmentation and the setting of clear and measurable objectives. And yet, for projects, we would make up numbers out of thin air and our professors confirmed that without expensive market research, finding them out would be super difficult. But they were wrong! When you have a website and use the right analytical tools, it’s super easy! No need to make up numbers because, with these tools, you learn so much about the visitors and what they do on the website, essentially, providing you with incredible optimization opportunities.
Did you know that coffee breaks and small talk at the coffee machine can be highly effective!? Go ahead, grab a coffee, a tea or whatever you like and talk to someone!
On one hand, discussing problems from a field not related to work can be the source of analogies that help you with your issue. On the other hand, exchanging ideas and playing around with them can be extremely helpful as you get a new perspective on things, especially when someone unfamiliar with the topic takes a neutral, uninformed look at it.
In conclusion, it can be very helpful to do something to distract yourself and get back to business later. In between, your subconsciousness does the work for you and with the help of new perspectives you can suddenly come up with new ideas out of the blue.
When was the last time you had a coffee break? Did it have any benefits beyond the caffeine? We look forward to reading your comments!
There is a whole load of things happening on the internet in just 1 second:

And the numbers keep growing! Thus, one of the greatest challenges in this world of information overload is to get one’s message across. Here are some tips to help you with that.
What – it’s already Friday!? I barely noticed how quickly time has passed! This has been my first week here and it’s super exciting to be working at LA Preuss Consulting! Continue reading “Friday Flashback”
Founding your own business and being the boss is a big thing and let’s admit it- it can be scary. However, you don’t have to do it all on your own! There are many official organizations that offer help, counseling and support.
